Healthy Breakfast Smoothie- Natural Energy At Home

July 14, 2019 By Helen 3 Comments

You may have noticed that within a few minutes of waking up, you will feel groggy, jolted or maybe even tired. Most will make the mistake of associating this with poor sleep quality, whereas most of the time this is untrue. When you wake, your body gives you a huge shot of cortisol to change from sleeping to a conscious state, which floods you with thoughts, anxieties, and fatigue. Instead of reaching for a cup of coffee right away to exacerbate the issue, it is recommended that more natural solutions are implemented. What better way to get your vitamins, minerals and nutrients during the most important meal of the day, than with a healthy breakfast smoothie, using your best blender.

Blueberry Avocado Banana Smoothie - Rich in Antioxidants

Waking up in the morning doesn't need to be a chore. Maybe you are going to work, or getting your day started with family responsibilities. Look forward to your day by starting it off right with a blueberry avocado and banana smoothie. This smoothie is high in antioxidants, which helps you boost your immune system and promotes skin and body regeneration, giving you a "glowing" look.

Blueberry Avocado Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of almond milk (taste optional)
  • 1 cup of fresh spinach
  • 1 banana, peeled and medium ripe
  • 1/2 avocado, pitted and peeled
  • 2 cups of frozen blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (or whole almonds)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

Instruction:

Take all the ingredients listed above in precise order and place into the blender. In order they are almond milk, fresh spinach, banana, half an avocado, blueberries, almonds or almond butter and blend it until it is smooth. If you'd like it colder, thicker and more chilling add a handful of ice. If you would like the smoothie to be more thin and to go down more like a drink than a smoothie, add more milk.

Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie- Perfect for a cold

One of the most common viruses that we need to deal with is the common cold. Although it has become more of a nuisance than a huge concern in most cases, it is especially troublesome if it keeps us from being productive. The secret to fighting the cold is to have a diet rich in vitamin C, D and zinc. For this reason, we recommend the Strawberry Kiwi smoothie for your healthy breakfast when you're feeling under the weather.

Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 small kiwis, peeled
  • 1/2 cup of frozen and cleaned strawberries
  • 1/2 an orange, or 1 whole clementine, peeled and cleaned
  • 2 tablespoons of quick cooking oats (optional)
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1/2 cup of milk, skim preferred
  • honey or ice to taste

Instruction:

Place all ingredients in this order: kiwis, strawberries, orange/clementine, milk and finally oats. When you are done, you may also add honey to taste or can add more ice for a thicker smoothie, or more milk for a thinner drink.

Serves: 1,326 calories and has a higher protein content of 11g.
